Biz Member Spotlight: Kegler Brown

Kegler BrownCapital Crossroads Special Improvement District is grateful to its Business Members, whose support is vital to the SID's efforts. The additional revenue raised through the Business Membership program allows Capital Crossroads to undertake additional initiatives central to the mission of making Downtown Columbus the cleanest, safest and best place to live, work and play in Central Ohio. Each quarter, we recognize a Business Member, whose commitment to downtown is solidified through its voluntary support of Capital Crossroads.

Kegler Brown Hill & Ritter has called downtown home for 51 years and has been in its current State Street location since 1985. Managing Partner Michael Zatezalo notes that the firm has seen downtown change much over the years, from the days of City Center to Columbus Commons and much more.

“Being downtown is a recruiting tool for us,” he explained. “Young people are very enthusiastic about downtown, and the SID has done so much to bring life to the area and to keep it looking great.”

That is why they are proud to be part of Capital Crossroads and its efforts. The firm’s support of the SID started long ago with sponsorship of a flower planter in front of the Ohio Theatre. When Executive Director Cleve Ricksecker approached the firm about becoming Business Members, they did not hesitate.

“The SID’s efforts over the years have made such a difference downtown, from the ice rink back in the day to flowers to Pearl Market,” added Zatezalo. “The Ambassadors are great, keeping the streets safe and clean. And when our employees work late, it is nice to have Ambassadors available to walk them safely.”

Zatezalo is excited about the future of downtown and is glad to see the continued development of new restaurants and retail, all of which contribute to making downtown a vibrant home for Kegler Brown and its employees.
