Capital Crossroads SID’s Bold Booths project is nearing completion with the installation of the final two booths. “Microtower” by Jonathan Barnes Architecture and Design is located at the southwest corner of East Spring and North Third Streets. “PARKlot” by Design Group is located on the northeast corner of East Main and South Fourth Streets. These two join the first booth, “Coney Island” by Blostein/Overly, in the Great Southern Hotel parking lot.

“Microtower” was created from a repurposed shipping container stood on end, creating a new “skyscraper” in the city’s skyline.“PARKlot” is made of bright green rebar, giving the appearance of tall grass. Compton Construction provided valuable assistance with installing the booths.

Completed in 2015, “Coney Island"features unique geometry including conic sections that pay tribute to the acoustics of the Southern Theater.

Bold Booths was coordinated by Malcolm Cochran, professor emeritus of arts at The Ohio State University. Capital Crossroads SID managed the project, with funding from The Ohio State University Office of Outreach and Engagement, the Jeffrey Fund at the Columbus Foundation, the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Ohio Arts Council. The program is a continuation of the city’s Finding Time temporary public art installation series that first began in 2012 during the Columbus Bicentennial celebration.
