Downtown Community Overwhelms with Warming Center Donations

Capital Crossroads and Discovery SIDs are grateful, as always, for the generosity of the downtown community. When we asked for donations to go toward the downtown warming centers managed by the Coalition for the Homeless, you really responded. The warming centers are set up in churches and the Columbus Metropolitan Library to help the homeless during the cold winter months.

“Our generous community came through with coffee, filters, and to-go cups; gloves, hats, and socks; hand warmers; and more,” said Michelle Chippas, director of Communications and Engagement for the SIDs. “People and groups are dropping off donations almost daily; it is wonderful to witness these random acts of kindness.”

The SID is accepting financial support through PayPal. Our thanks to the Franklin University employees who have offered support in this manner.

The SID is also still accepting donations of new hats, gloves, and blankets. Donations can be dropped off at the SID offices at 23 North Fourth Street.
