Public restrooms now accessible downtown

Access to public restrooms downtown has always been a challenge in the best of times, but it is especially an issue now with the closure of restaurants, institutions, churches, social service providers, etc. People experiencing homelessness have not had access to basic hygiene, posing a health threat within this vulnerable population.

To address this problem, Capital Crossroads and Discovery SIDs have placed several portable restrooms, and soon washing stations, in downtown Columbus for people experiencing homelessness. These stations are being funded by the United Way of Central Ohio and the City of Columbus.

The restrooms will be checked regularly throughout the day by the SIDs ambassadors from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. If you see or believe any suspicious activity occurring, please call our customer hotline at (614) 228-5718.
