Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District (SID), in partnership with the City of Columbus, opened the three permanent downtown public restrooms in February of 2024 to foster vibrancy, safety and cleanliness.
As part of its Restroom Public Art Project, three local artists were selected for their original designs that wrap the interior and exterior of each restroom. The project is intended to create visibility for the restrooms, add vibrancy to the streetscape, and support local artists.
Maya Pinz (pictured above), graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design, was selected to design artwork for the restroom at 3rd and Broad Streets. Her design focuses on the diverse faces of Columbus, featuring members of the community with the state flower, red carnations.
Daniel Rona (pictured above) is Columbus artist whose work as a muralist can be found all over the city. Daniel was selected to design artwork for the restroom at High and Long Streets. His design features vibrant gardens and playful characters to represent the resilience and curiosity of Columbus.
Asa Compton (pictured above) is concept artist, illustrator and graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design. Asa was selected to design artwork for the restroom at Lynn and High Streets. His design depicts playful renditions of iconic destinations and scenery from around the state, including the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, Hocking Hills, The Ohio State University, and rolling farmlands.
The ADA-accessible restrooms are located at the northwest corner of High Street and Long Street, the northeast corner of Third Street and Broad Street, and the southwest corner of High Street and Lynn Street. Emergency services have access to the restrooms as needed.
The restrooms are checked by the Capital Crossroads SID team every 30 to 45 minutes, and cleaned several times a day, seven days a week. They are open Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Holiday hours vary. For more information, click HERE.
