Discovery Trail Phase 1

Discovery SID kicked off the first phase of the Discovery Trail this winter. Using features such as paving materials, landscaping, lighting, crosswalk treatments and public art, Discovery Trail will connect the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library with the Columbus Museum of Art.

Building on the identity created in the Discovery District Placemaking Plan, the trail will bring elements of the district outside so that people experience the Discovery District as the intersection of creativity, culture and knowledge.

Discovery SID Board of Trustees approved a contract with ms consultants for the design and engineering of Phase 1 of Discovery Trail. NBBJ, Planit, Candace Black and Jess Mathews will be subcontractors working on streetscape design, wayfinding and placemaking efforts. Traffic counts and a study of area utilities are currently underway, with the goal of completing them by summer. Look for visualizations of design ideas this spring.
