SIDs Make Caring Connections

Caring ConnectionsCapital Crossroads and Discovery SIDs have launched Caring Connections, which promotes homeless outreach services as well as other community resources available for those in need.

The SIDs have long employed two full-time homeless outreach specialists to serve downtown's most vulnerable individuals. However, Caring Connections provides an easy way for the community at large to truly help someone access services. It's as simple as a text or call to engage a homeless outreach specialist.

If you see someone in need, please call or text the SID hotline at (614) 228-5718. An outreach specialist will assess the situation and help the person.

Caring Connections:

  • Helped 1000+ clients at the Main Library and Open Shelter
  • Helped 84 clients find housing
  • Provided 500+ COTA passes for people in need

Additionally, the SIDs provide Caring Connections pocket cards, which list downtown agencies providing direct client services as well as hot meals. In downtown, people in need can get a hot meal three times a day, 365 days a year.

Instead of giving money to people experiencing homelessness, you can give a Caring Connections pocket card, which provides multiple resources, and you can always call or text the SID hotline (614) 228-5718 if you see someone who needs assistance.

Contact Lisa Defendiefer at (614) 591-4508 or lldefendiefer@sidservices.com to get a supply of the pocket cards.
