MORPC Program Offers Funds for Businesses Looking to Support Sustainable Commutes

Businesses looking to encourage their employees to drive less and use alternative modes of transportation can look to the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission Commute Action Fund for support.

Central Ohio companies with more than 1,000 employees are eligible to request up to $5,000 to be used as a dollar-for-dollar match for spending on sustainable commute projects.

MORPC seeks to support businesses in projects that create behavioral changes among their employees and hopes the Fund helps decrease single-occupant vehicle commutes by 20 percent.

Examples of programs the funds could support include subsidized monthly transit passes, subsidized monthly Gohio Commute vanpool fares, and other workplace mobility program development.

To apply, eligible companies fill out an application available on the MORPC website (https://forms.gle/TfLU5UtGbCQqkD9s7). Those applications are evaluated on a rolling basis. The first round of applications opened on July 5, 2021, and close on September 30, 2021. A second round will begin on November 1.
