Reverend Richard A. Burnett retired as the rector of Trinity Episcopal Church on Capitol Square on May 30. He served as rector for 24 years, leading a vibrant downtown congregation committed to spiritual formation, public ministry, and worship reflective of a diverse congregation.
In that vein, Trinity has partnered with Capital Crossroads SID for many years. In 2003, the SID’s homeless outreach program was housed at Trinity, and they have provided consistent support for individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the year.
“They opened their doors during COVID to ensure that people in need had access to warm up this past winter,” explained Lisa Defendiefer, deputy director of operations & advocacy for the SIDs.
Burnett and Trinity were also active in Finding Time, Columbus Public Art, part of Columbus’ bicentennial celebration in 2012. Twelve composers composed new pieces to be played on the Trinity bells, a new one played each month of the year.
Capital Crossroads SID wishes Rev. Burnett and his wife, Katharine, a wonderful retirement.
